Matt Insley – Managing Investment Director

Matt Insley brings private equity and corporate finance experience. As the Managing Investment Director of Aldridge Wealth, Sir Rod Aldridge’s family office investment vehicle, Matt has successfully invested, managed and exited private equity investments in a number of sectors in the UK. Matt’s other directorships include Warwick Estates Property Management, the fifth largest block manager in the UK with £10bn of assets under management, where he also chairs the audit and remuneration committees, as well as a number of other smaller VC investments in the UK.

Prior to his past five years working at Aldridge Wealth, Matt worked for four years at Knox D’Arcy Investment Management, an FCA regulated specialist investment management firm culminating in a role as an Investment Director.

Matt gained his professional qualifications whilst working at Deloitte in London, in both their Structured Transactions (which spanned the Audit and Tax practices) and then in their M&A (Corporate Finance practice) teams.

Matt holds a first class MSc in International Business from The University of Nottingham where he majored in International Finance. He also read Biochemistry and Biological Chemistry at The University of Nottingham where he gained a BSc (hons).

Matt is a member of the ICAEW and is also a member of the CFA Society of the UK.

 

 

James Wallis – Investment Manager

As the Investment Manager of Aldridge Wealth, James Wallis adds private equity and corporate finance experience both to the family office and the investee companies, working closely with Management teams to strengthen their operations and understanding of the business. James is a Director of a number of investee businesses, including Warwick Estates where he has also taken an Executive Management role, and smaller VC investments in the UK.

Before joining Aldridge Wealth, James was part of the investment team at Lonrho, a privately owned African investor, working on new investments and growth funding for the existing portfolio.

James started his career in the Transactions Services department at Deloitte, providing financial due diligence to a range of clients including private equity and corporate investors across a variety of sectors, where he also gained his professional qualification.

James holds a first class BA in Political Science from the University of Birmingham and is a member of the ICAEW.

 

 

 

Emma Southwell – Head of Group Finance

Emma joined the Aldridge Wealth team in July 2018 as Head of Group Finance. Emma’s role is to oversee all areas of finance and administration, including management reporting, taxation, payroll, cash management, banking and statutory reporting.

Emma qualified as a chartered accountant with Ernst and Young before continuing her career as financial controller in a number of SMEs. Immediately prior to joining Aldridge Wealth Emma was Financial Controller at Upper Street Events, a UK-based consumer events organiser, where she managed a finance team of five and controlled the annual audit process and preparation of the statutory accounts.

Before that Emma was Financial Controller at HouseTrip, a holiday rentals website, until its acquisition by TripAdvisor in 2016. Prior to HouseTrip, Emma spent six years as Chief Accountant at Colefax Group plc, an AIM listed designer and distributor of luxury furnishing fabrics.

Emma is a member of the ICAEW and holds a BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance from Nottingham Trent University.

 

 

 

Mukami Wainaina – Accounts Manager

Mukami joined the Aldridge Wealth team in December 2017 after completing an internship with the company following her Masters. Mukami’s role involves analysing current and future investments, supporting the work of the Investment Manager and Managing Investment Director. Mukami also works with the Head of Group Finance to carry out the accounting and finance functions of the business.

During her studies, Mukami also found time to gain a wide variety of experiences, including working for an Investment Fund in Kenya, a Corporate Law Firm in Zambia, and a Legal Clinic in Washington D.C.

Mukami holds a LL.M Masters degree in International Business Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Her studies focussed on the Law and Practice of International Finance, M&A and Restructuring, and Business Taxation. Prior to this, Mukami achieved a LL.B (Hons) Law degree from the University of York.

Mukami is in the final stages of completing the ACA qualification to become an ICAEW Chartered Accountant.
